Amphibious Excavator Descriptions
An amphibious excavator, also known as a swamp buggy excavator, marsh buggy excavator, or floating excavator, is a highly versatile and durable machine designed to perform effectively in both land and water environments. Essential for industries such as construction, mining, and environmental remediation, these excavators excel in challenging and diverse conditions.
As a leading amphibious excavator manufacturer, RIVER specializes in delivering high-quality machines and custom attachments specifically designed for industrial applications. Our innovative solutions guarantee optimal efficiency and reliability, in any terrain.
The amphibious excavators designed and manufactured by RIVER are capable of operating in swamp areas, wetlands, shallow waters, and soft terrains. With the addition of extra pontoons, they can also work in deeper waters. Our pontoon undercarriages are compatible with various upper structures, including those from Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Kobelco, Doosan, Hyundai, Sany, XCMG, LiuGong, Yuchai, and others. These pontoons are suitable for excavators ranging from 3 to 60 tons, whether new or used.

Features of Our Amphibious Excavators
Our Lightweight Pontoon Design concept stems from over 20 years of experience in diverse dredging projects. This approach ensures that the buoyancy force of the pontoon is lower than the overall weight of the excavator, which comprises both the upper structure and the undercarriage. As a result, the amphibious excavator can operate stably in shallow water, providing exceptional flexibility in water depths of up to 1.6 meters (model-dependent).
The excavator can safely land and operate in shallow water, with all-direction digging movements as stable as those of conventional land-based crawlers, eliminating the risk of rollover.
Featuring a lightweight pontoon design, it offers a more compact profile, enhanced mobility in marshy terrain, greater operational flexibility, and reduced investment costs.
To maximize value, defining the intended application is a key prerequisite for customers considering an amphibious excavator purchase.
Furthermore, a systematic range of side pontoons and hydraulic spuds can be paired with different undercarriage models. This configuration enables the excavator to achieve full buoyancy in deeper waters, ranging from 1.6 meters up to 5 meters in depth, thereby extending its operational versatility to diverse and challenging work scenarios.
